The Dentistry programme at MedUni Vienna takes 12 semesters and a total of 219.5 contact hours.
A large part of these hours is devoted to required subjects and a smaller one to electives. Within the required subjects a large part of the contact hours is required for the clinical training and mandatory electives. The clinical internship takes place in the third phase to the extent of 72 weeks.
The programme is divided into three phases; the 1st phase takes two semesters, the 2nd phase four semesters and the 3rd phase six semesters.
The classes in the first and second phase are divided into so-called thematic blocks. The blocks are accompanied by "lines", that is, training or seminars in small groups, with the aim of establishing a connection with the clinical courses.
The curriculum is structured in such a way that only a start of studies in the winter ensures that the mandatory courses can be taken in the required order.
