To be admitted to the Ph.D. program, you need a supervisor to take care of your dissertation at the university and support you during your studies. The relationship between the supervisor and the Ph.D. student plays a central role in the doctorate and the development of your independent scientific project. It’s important that your supervisor is authorized to supervise your dissertation. We have compiled a list of currently accredited supervisors for your consideration.
There are two ways to find a supervisor:
- You have successfully participated in a competitive selection process and your supervisor has been pre-determined when you enroll to your studies.
- You independently sought out a supervisor before registering for the course.
You can find more information about our professors and their research groups on the websites of the individual thematic programs and in the researcher profiles.
To initiate a supervision relationship, please send a short application email (motivation, CV, 2 references and, if applicable, your desired dissertation topic) in English to your desired supervisor.
Each Ph.D. student shall be employed as a scientific employee and paid with peer-reviewed funding by his/her supervisor.
If a supervisor is not yet listed within the thematic N094 program you select, a supervisor might contact the relevant programme coordinator to apply for his/her admission to the thematic program.
Please note that an application for admission to doctoral studies is not possible without a signed declaration of consent from an adequate dissertation supervisor.
