Matthias Metelka, 1998 - 2024
With sympathy for the family and deeply saddened, we bid farewell to Matthias Metelka, who passed away unexpectedly.
Matthi was not only a student at our university, but also an enthusiastic and key member of the MedUni Serpents American football team, technical director at Sono4You and, above all, a good friend.
Matthi lived life to the full. When he was doing something, he was fully committed to it. Last year, he injured himself playing football, but played the game to the end even with a broken bone. He was just as fascinated by paragliding - a fall into the trees didn't stop him from pursuing his favorite pastime.
He was also a passionate computer scientist and programmer. Matthi not only built Anki decks with his own features for his friends, but is still one of the 10 most important developers involved in Anki.
Characteristic of Matthi is the enthusiasm, joy and inexhaustible energy with which he has lived his life. He always looked on the bright side, defied all the hurdles of his studies and was always there for his fellow human beings with total dedication. Matthi's manner remains an inspiration and role model for us all. We are grateful for the time we were able to share with him, Matthi will be greatly missed by many people.
