UN790 Epidemiology

Flow Chart & Structure of the Doctoral Programme

The program comprises a combination of compulsory and elective courses and state-of-the-art research projects in line with the UN790 doctoral curriculum at the Medical University of Vienna.

To successfully graduate, over a period of minimum 6 semesters, you will:

  • complete course work in different teaching formats ranging from basic lecture series introducing various areas of specialization and highlighting quantitative methods to more hands-on practical seminars and journal clubs aiming to improve presentation skills and critical evaluation of published research articles
  • develop, submit and defend your thesis proposal
  • get feedback at regular committee meetings
  • present your work to peers at PhD symposia
  • compile a cumulative dissertation based on 3 research papers
  • defend your thesis at your doctoral viva
